Jewellery Care

For our jewelry, we only use high-quality materials that we have extensively tested. However, proper care is key to their longevity.

When handling jewelry materials and gemstones, there are a few things to keep in mind that can significantly improve their durability.

These tips apply generally to all jewelry.

First and foremost, the most important thing: jewelry is comparable to clothing; after wearing it, it needs to be cleaned regularly to maintain its original luster.

There are various ways to clean jewelry. You can use a jewelry polishing cloth for care, or, for example, a mild soapy solution for washing. After washing, dry the jewelry thoroughly.

There's also the option of using a silver dip or an ultrasonic cleaner, but here you absolutely must consider the material. Some gemstones are very soft and delicate, for example, opal; only mild cleaning methods should be used, otherwise the stone can be damaged.

Here are a few basic principles that we also include with every order:
Here is an additional explanation of why it is important to observe them.

Avoid contact with water and chemicals

Water can alter your jewelry. For example, it can accelerate the oxidation of silver. It can also change gemstones; soft and porous stone types can absorb water and thereby lose color and luster.

Chemicals are a very underestimated issue. Our personal care products, such as shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, and perfume, contain various chemical ingredients. Contact with these substances can also alter your jewelry. It can become dull or even lose properties; for example, coatings and gold plating can be damaged. Gemstones can also react sensitively to them.

Therefore, you should not go swimming or shower with your jewelry, and only put it on after you have already prepared yourself.

Do not wear jewelry during sports or strenuous physical activities

This tip has several reasons. Primarily, it's about sweat. Even though sweating is perfectly natural, the body is particularly stressed during extreme activities, and one sweats much more than usual. Every person also has a different pH value. This can mean that sweat is very aggressive. This can, for example, extremely accelerate the oxidation of silver.

Always regularly clean all jewelry with a jewelry polishing cloth

As already mentioned, jewelry, as an item of wear, also needs to be cleaned regularly. This way, you can remove residues of sweat, skin oil, and other substances from your jewelry pieces so that they cannot have a long-term effect.

Store jewelry in a dark and dry place

Proper storage is also a very important topic for durability. I bet all of us have left a silver necklace lying in the bathroom for a while and then wondered why it had turned completely dark.

Moisture greatly promotes oxidation, as do sunlight and air.

Therefore, for example, a jewelry box in your bedroom is exactly the right place for storage.

If you follow these tips, your jewelry pieces will thank you by sparkling for you for a long time :-)
