Amethyst is a unique purple gemstone. The name of this gemstone comes from the Greek word "amethyein," meaning "not drunk," alluding to amethyst's detoxifying effect, which supposedly prevented intoxication. The Greeks therefore often carried it with them. Today we know that even the powerful amethyst cannot prevent drunkenness. However, the Greeks also wore amethyst to ward off sorcery and evil thoughts.

The sky-blue Larimar is a variety of blue-white Pectolite and was only discovered in 1974 in the Dominican Republic. Miguel Mendez, an art expert, named this mineral after his daughter Larissa and because of its sea-blue color ("mar," meaning: sea) as Larimar. It is usually cut as a cabochon and is highly sought after as a gemstone.

Attributed effects:

The sky-blue Larimar expands the mental horizon and enables new perspectives. In this way, this healing stone helps to dissolve restrictive thought patterns and reshape life. Through newly gained ways of thinking and acting, it encourages self-realization. Larimar bestows inner peace and is a protective stone against negative energies.

Malachite

The name malachite comes from the Greek word "malache" (for mallow), because its color resembles the foliage of the mallow. Pliny the Elder already described it under the name "Molochites". Obsidian

Obsidian was named after the Roman Obsius, who brought the first stone from Ethiopia to Rome. Already in the Stone Age, weapons were preferably made from this volcanic glass, as it was particularly well suited for this due to its fracture, just like flint. In antiquity, obsidian was used to make elaborate objects and mirrors, and the indigenous peoples of America used it to craft weapons and sculptures. To this day, obsidian is highly valued as a gemstone and for the creation of art objects.

Onyx

The name of the deep black onyx comes from Greek and translates to "fingernail". Its naming is probably due to its supposed positive effects on nails, skin, and hair. Onyx is a particularly powerful stone for increasing self-confidence and resilience. Thus, onyx gives its wearer more joy of life and helps to bring more stability to their life. Strengthened self-confidence always leads to greater inner harmony. In this way, the gemstone is also able to help with depression, melancholy, or other negative energies. To the influence of other people, onyx reacts with more assertiveness. Promoting the view of one's own abilities helps to form and articulate one's own point of view. One's own goals are also defined thereby. In addition to these seemingly very selfish effects, onyx also increases a sense of responsibility and cognitive ability.

Opal

Opals were already considered particularly valuable gemstones in antiquity. They are said to have received a part of every stone from the gods after they had created the gemstones. Pliny the Elder therefore described the opal as follows: "It has the gentle fire of the carbuncle, the brilliant purple of the amethyst, the magnificent sea-green of the emerald, the golden yellow of the topaz, the deep blue of the sapphire, so that all colors shine together in a wonderful mixture." According to Greek mythology, the tears of Zeus, after his victory over the Titans, are trapped in the opal. Even then, opals were considered healing stones, one of the strongest stones for the soul and for true love, as simply gazing at them does not fail to have an effect.

Attributed effects:

The opal exerts its greatest effect on us when viewed. Its unique play of colors, which can display all the colors of nature, fascinates us and has a beneficial effect on our soul. Nothing comparable exists in nature except for the wings of butterflies and hummingbirds. This opalescence causes our feelings to be intensified. The opal can thus make the viewer very happy by bringing them into harmony with themselves. It thus increases self-belief, as well as the will for self-realization, but also the associated acceptance, sense of community, and communication skills. Because when one is content with oneself, one also feels comfortable in company.
